Pastor who defrauded me of N918m was my ‘errand boy’- wife of ex-VP, Titi Atiku tells court:

Wife of former Vice president Abubakar Atiku, Titi, yesterday told an Ikeja High Court that the pastor whom she has accused of defrauding her of N918 million was her “errand boy”.

Mrs Atiku last year dragged the accused, Nsikak Akpan-Jacobs, before the court with claims that he defrauded her of the said amount of money.
She petitioned the EFCC who filed a 14-count charge against Akpan-Jacobs bordering on conspiracy, stealing and fraudulent conversion of property worth N918 million belonging to THA Shipping Maritime Services Ltd.

According to investigations by EFCC, THA Shipping Maritime Services Ltd, a company created in 2000, is owned by Mrs Atiku, Akpan-Jacobs and Fred Holmes, her German business partner with Mrs Atiku being the major shareholder with 49 per cent shares, while Holmes and Akpan-Jacobs each had 25 per cent shares. It is alleged that Akpan-Jacobs, who doubled as the company’s Managing Director and Secretary, went to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to alter the company's share holding formula in his favour and forged the company’s board resolutions. He allegedly allotted 70 per cent shares to himself and 15 per cent shares each to Titi and Holmes. With the new shares formula, he secretly sold a property belonging to the company to Dana Motors ltd for N918 million and used the money to allegedly fund his gubernatorial campaign in Akwa Ibom in the last election.

The case was called for hearing yesterday and while being examined by Mr Amos Ibe, the defence counsel to Akpan-Jacobs, Mrs Atiku said Akpan-Jacobs was just her errand boy whom she trusted and made the managing director of her company because he was a pastor. She told the court that she formed the company with her maiden name, Florence Doregos, because back then she was in public office and that with her influence, a lot of people wanted to do business with them. She alleged that Akpan-Jacobs used her company building as collateral to collect  a huge loan from a bank and that when the banks were coming after him, he started to sell off some of their properties.

    “I did not know that it would turn out like this. I would have documented all our transactions. I admit I didn’t have any documents to prove that I invested money into the company, Jacobs cannot deny that I that I did not invest money. He is guilty from head to toe. Jacobs did everything on my behalf as I was still in the civil service as at that time. I could not leave my post then. He gave me a breakdown of expenses to be incurred and I still have the breakdown, but he never signed it. Being the one with the largest share, I contributed N49 million to buy the land situated at No. 63A,Amuwo Odofin Lagos, while my German partner, Holmes, brought two cranes from Germany.  He even, at one point, forged my signature. We put a Caveat Emptor on the property warning prospective buyers, but Dana Motors went ahead and bought the property claiming that they had an agreement with the managing director to collect their money, should any litigation arose. My lawyer later got to know that the property was sold for N918 million, which Jacobs claimed was used to offset the loan he collected from the bank and also pay off other loans. All this, he did, without my knowledge.”

When asked by counsel to the accused why he was made a managing director when he was just an errand boy according to her, Mrs Atiku replied

    "He was made an MD to stand in for Mr Fred Holmes because Holmes had not resigned from his job. When it was time for Akpan to step down as the MD, he refused because by then he had perfected his fraudulent acts.”

Responding to claims by Akpan-Jacobs counsel that  THA Shipping Maritime Services Ltd was owned by the accused and that he only brought her on board to bring in big briefs and clients, Mrs Atiku said

    “Is he the one who bought the land, built the building? He was merely supervising. My clout gave the company a lot of prestige, a lot of people wanted to do business with us and people brought a lot of containers to us,” she said

The presiding judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye, adjourned the case until July 6th for continuation of trial.

A shocking video showing a wedding ceremony between a 16-year-old boy and his 71-year-old lover has emerged. The teenager and his elderly female lover had faced objections when they decided they wanted to get married but they swore to kill themselves if they were not allowed to be together and their families finally gave in.

The video shows Selamat Riayadi marrying his bride Rohaya. It starts with him holding a microphone, reciting what is believed to be his marital vows. As soon as he is done, guests give a loud cheer for the new couple. The young groom is seen with his hand to his face as soon as their union is proclaimed, making it impossible to know what he is feeling. His wife, on her part, sat quietly beside him, her expression unreadable. It is not clear what motivated their marriage. Money has been ruled out as both newlyweds are equally poor.

 

Selamat's family made a dowry payment of 200,000 Indonesian Rupiah (about £11.50) to Rohaya's family. The wedding held at the home of a local community leader named as Kuswoyo. Many people doubted the authenticity of the wedding after the video spread. But an Indonesian news outlet claims it spoke to Kuswoyo who confirmed the marriage. He also disclosed that the couple threatened to kill themselves if they were barred from marrying.

He said: "They said they wanted to commit suicide because they were completely in love, so if one of them dies, then both must die."

Rohaya had been married twice and also widowed twice. It is Selamat's first marriage. The official minimum age for boys to marry in Indonesia is 19 but a loophole allows for any marriage within a person’s "religious norms".

Evidence of 'underworld' found in Mexican ruins

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Archaeologists at Mexico's Teotihuacan ruins have found evidence that the city's builders dug a tunnel beneath the Pyramid of the Moon and researchers said one of its purposes may have been to emulate the underworld.

The National Institute of Anthropology and History said researchers used a kind of computerized tomography scan to discover the apparent tunnel about 30 feet (10 meters) below the surface of the plaza in front of the pyramid.

The CT scan suggests the tunnel may have been filled in antiquity. Other tunnels have been discovered at Teotihuacan, and one at Temple of the Plumed Serpent has been explored.

Experts say the tunnels may be associated with sacred flows of water and the underworld.

"The discovery would confirm that the inhabitants of Teotihuacan followed the same pattern in their large-scale temples, and that their function would be to emulate the underworld," said INAH archaeologist Veronica Ortega.

More studies are needed to determine whether the apparent tunnel should eventually be excavated.

The ruins north of Mexico City remain shrouded in mystery.

Teotihuacan had its apex between 100 B.C. and A.D. 750, with about 100,000 residents. But it was abandoned before the rise of the Aztecs in the 14th century.

The 340-foot (103-meter) tunnel found under the Temple of the Plumed Serpent early in this century yielded relics from ranging from seeds to pottery to animal bones.

Researchers have still to find the tombs of the city's elite that they had hoped might be in the tunnel.

Unlike at other pre-Columbian ruins in Mexico, archaeologists have never found any remains believed to belong to Teotihuacan's rulers. Such a discovery could help shine light on the leadership structure of the city, including whether rule was hereditary.

Two teachers in the financial hub of Nigeria have been accused of having carnal knowledge of underaged students and infecting them with diseases.

Doctors in an undisclosed hospital are treating 10 secondary school students of a Lagos State government secondary school in Epe, who were infected with S*xually Transmitted Diseases, STDs, after allegedly being raped by two of their teachers.

The teachers, whose identities could not be ascertained at press time, as gathered, allegedly took turns to have carnal knowledge of the students until the bubble burst, weekend.

Report had it that they threatened to fail the students if they refused their demand. Vanguard was informed that none of the students knew they were infected until one of them complained of an unusual discharge from her private part to her mother. When taken to a hospital, she was discovered to have been infected with STD.

Another student, said to have confided in one of her friends of a similar discharge, discovered that her confidant had same problem. They then opened up on the teachers’ acts.

Another version had it that one of the students had a verbal confrontation with one of the teachers, after refusing to bow to his pressure. During investigation by the school, other victims, as gathered, confirmed that they were also raped by the teachers on different occasions.

Efforts to get the response of the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, on whether the teachers had been arrested, failed as he promised to reach Vanguard later.

Contacted, the Director of Office of Public Defender, Mrs. Olubukonla Salami, confirmed the report.

She said: “The case has been reported to us and we are on top of it. It has also been reported to the state Police Command and investigation is on.”

As at yesterday night, efforts were on to take the students to a shelter, pending when they would be fully certified by doctors to go home.

Following the social media outrage pertaining to the Facebook post where a Biafra apologist compared IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu to Jesus Christ.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have come out to debunk the claims, stating that “enemies” planted in its group were responsible for the social media post.

In a statement on Sunday, Emma Powerful, spokesperson of IPOB, claimed that the Department of State Services (DSS) and unnamed politicians were behind a plot to defame Kanu.



According to TheCable.ng, he added that Kanu is a Christian and will never challenge the authority of God.

The statement in part read;

    “It is dangerous comparing him with God Almighty or Jesus Christ. It is the work of enemies planted within us by DSS and some politicians. Those involved in this ridiculous scandal and deformation of character will fail without delay and God Almighty Chukwu Okike Abiama must deal with them,”

    “Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader in his life never challenged the authority of God Almighty who created Heaven and earth or Jesus Christ the son of God even the spirit.

    “Nnamdi Kanu is a Christian and cannot blaspheme God Almighty and his son Jesus Christ, those using his name as saviour, messiah and Jesus are misinformed and uneducated because he never asked them to do so.”

Powerful further said it was not the wish of Kanu to boycott the Anambra governorship election but that of the eastern part of the country and IPOB members who visited him in Umuahia.

    “The boycott of election in Anambra State come November this year was not the making of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu rather the wish of eastern Nigeria and IPOB members who visited him in his home town Umuahia, where the people told him that they don’t need election again in Biafra land and they are ready to boycott election because since the creation of Nigeria they benefited nothing in Nigeria elections except killing, riots and humiliation from our politicians,” it read.

Former Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike’s contract with Fenerbahce, has been terminated.

This brings to an end four troubled years with the Turkish club.

The party was to be a respite for Messi from his legal woes. A Spanish court last month rejected his appeal against a tax fraud conviction.

Brunette bride Roccuzzo wore a white, curve-hugging dress with a deep sweetheart neckline and embroidered straps by Rosa Clara — a Spanish designer who has dressed actress Eva Longoria and Spain’s Queen Letizia.

Humble couple
Messi and Roccuzzo live in Barcelona where he plays, but still return regularly to Rosario for vacations.

He moved to Spain when he was 13 to join FC Barcelona, but the couple kept in touch.

Messi has gone on to win the top Ballon d’Or award five times and is widely regarded as the world’s best footballer.

But various old friends of the couple in their home city said the bride and groom are humble folk who have never forgotten where they come from.

“They are the love of each other’s lives,” Messi’s childhood friend Diego Vallejos told AFP.

Instead of wedding presents, they have asked for donations to a children’s charity.

The couple have reportedly spent the past two weeks in Rosario with family, but have kept out of sight of the reporters who have invaded the city.

Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, has claimed that Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade sent his aides to her Calabar residence while she was out of the country to forcefully collect the Toyota Prado jeep he gifted her last year.


The former presidential adviser said the car was taken back following allegations of diversions of relief materials sent by the National Commission for Refugees to the displaced persons of Atai-Ema in Bakassi, whose houses were burnt in April 2017. Mama Bakassi had led a team of security operatives to recover some relief materials in a private residence in Calabar on June 3.

A good number of Ita-Giwa's kinsmen staged a protest in Akpabuyo over attempts to tarnish her image. Speaking shortly after the protest, Ita-Giwa condemned the action of the aides who invaded her compound in her absence.

She said, “They stormed these premises in my absence to remove the car the governor gave to me. They removed the Prado Jeep. Even if they had wanted the car, they should have written to me or waited for me to come back. But they stormed the premises in my absence and collected the car. What has car got to do with the missing relief materials?”

A letter made available newsmen after the protest indicated that the Director of Administration, Governor’s Office, David Edem, had, on June 9, requested for the return of the vehicle, Dailypost reports.

The letter read in part: “With compliments and best wishes from the office of the governor, I most respectfully request you to please return the black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Jeep officially allocated to you by this office on September 6, 2016.

“The vehicle with chassis number JTEBX9F…71, is required to boost our depleted fleet and deepen our service delivery. Any inconvenience caused by this request is regretted, while thanking you for your understanding.”

Also, on June 15, the Transport Officer in the Governor’s Office, Bisong Egbe, acknowledged in a handwritten note that the vehicle had been received in good condition.

It read: “I acknowledge receipt of vehicle, a Prado Jeep returned by Senator Ita-Giwa. The vehicle is in good and working condition.”

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Christian Ita, while reacting to the allegation said, “We won’t join issues with her.”

“How Pastor Lured Me Into Prostitution” – 24-Year-Old Lady Opens Up

A 24-year-old girl yesterday painted a sordid picture of how a pastor she fellowshipped with at the Heavenly Ambassadors’ Ministries Inc. lured her into prostitution.

Florence (surname withheld), a former stylist, dancer and singer while with the church located at Isihor on the busy Benin-Lagos Expressway in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, said she was tricked while she was 18 years old by Pastor Endurance Eghoze to travel to meet his sister based in Russia with the hope of assisting her to look for a greener pasture overseas but ended up in the web of street hawkers there.

Florence said she worked tirelessly for four years (2013 to 2017) to pay an agreed sum of $45,000 (about N17.1 million) to her ‘Madam’ and trafficker, Ms. Vivian Eghoze, who later dumped her on the streets of Russia before she was deported home in February.

Already, operatives of the state police command have arrested Vivian and her brother, Endurance.

The arrest was made possible following a tip-off by an Edo-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Initiative for Youths Awareness on Migration, Immigration, Development and Reintegration (IYAMIDR).

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Moses Nkombe, confirmed their arrest.
He said: “The matter is being investigated by the police.”

Florence, who has been reunited with her family, is begging for urgent assistance from good-spirited individuals and government.

She said after paying her ‘madam’ the huge sum, she is also battling to save herself from a mysterious ailment.

Vivian and Endurance have allegedly trafficked over 45 girls for prostitutions overseas.

The victims said they were daily subjected to excruciating conditions in cold of the nights to meet customers without anything to show for their years of enslavement.

According to them, even their parents and relations wallow in hunger, poverty and emptiness except for the lavish lifestyles of their hosts and their exotic cars and eye-pooping mansions.

Florence explained that her trouble started in late 2012 when her mother amid cries and wailing narrated her plight of being locked in huge debt to their pastor, who is also the second in command of the church, who quickly cashed in on the ugly situation to convince her to join his sister in Russia.

She added that a few days before she travelled to Lagos to meet Vivian’s close relations, her mother who was in Benin compelled her to take an oath of secrecy after collection of her pubic hair, pants and braziers while ‘madam’s uncle also raped her in a hotel room where she was lodged preparatory for Russia and sternly warned her not to tell anyone about the illicit act.

She said: “I had to borrow money to do my passport. She keeps calling and assuring me that all will be well. I was made to take oath of allegiance.

“I borrowed N30,000 from a cooperative society, to do my passport and I told her (Ms Vivian) that my passport was ready and she said okay. And from there I proceeded to another level at which she called Endurance that they would be the ones to run everything and that my mind should be at rest. After some weeks, she called me again and gave me words of encouragement. That was how we ended our talk.”
