Student Dies On Her 21st Birthday After Consuming Half Bottle Of Jack Daniels

A fashion student was reported to have met with her end on her birthday after she consumed half a bottle of an alcoholic drink.

The 21-year-old celebrant was reported to have partied with friends and in the spirit of the moment downed half a bottle of Jack Daniels.

She was reported to have chocked on her own vomit in a Thai restaurant before her death.

The deceased identified as Narinthorn Alexander was reported to have been found unconscious in the toilet of Thai Tho in Soho, central London.

Following the daring act, Narinthorn Alexander suffered a cardiac arrest and was in coma for six days before her life support machine was turned off.

Postmortem examination performed by coroner, Mary Hassell, revealed that the amount of the alcoholic substance in her system played a significant role in her death.

President Buhari ‘Must Complete 8 years’ Despite Health Challenges – Oluwo of Iwo

A Yoruba traditional ruler has said that President Muhammadu Buhari must complete 8 years despite having health challenges.

The Oluwo of Iwo, Adbulrahsheed Akanbi, on Thursday presided over a special prayer session organised for President Muhammadu Buhari by Muslims, Christians and traditionalists at his palace in the town where he said Muhammadu Buhari must complete 8 years as President despite health challenges.

“As I have prayed for Buhari today, new life has come for him,” he prayed. “He must spend eight years in power despite all obstacles from opposition.

“He also said he was willing to bear any sickness that is ailing the president, saying that those who love the country must love the leaders as well.

“It is painful that those who launched that campaign of ‘Resume or Resign’ are not patriotic as they claimed.

“They politicised the campaign which shouldn’t be. Buhari is my son and I won’t be happy when people are wishing him dead.

“If any civil servant or police officer falls sick, will you advise them to resign? Those who are clamouring for Buhari’s resignation are not sane.

“Nigerians don’t love those that love them but they are passionate about those that hate them.

“All those who are wishing him dead and those who are clamouring for his resignation shall fall sick.”
The president of Christian Association of Nigeria, Iwo, Caleb Ayoola, led the Christian prayer; the Iwo Chief Imam, Abdulfatai Olododo, led the Muslim prayers and Ojetunde Ajibowu, led traditionalists in prayers.

The CAN Chairman, read from 2Chronicles 7:14 noted that God is the utmost healer urging people in positions of authority to always show obedience to God’s directive and pray for peace and harmony in the land. Conducting the traditional prayers, Ojetunde Ajibowu, offered prayers for the president, Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the Oluwo of Iwo.

The wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, who was represented by the Wife of the Secretary to the State Government of Oyo State, Halimot Alli, appreciated the Oluwo and Nigerians for their relentless prayers for her husband.

BREAKING: IPOB rejects withdrawal of quit notice, asks Igbo to leave North ‎

The Indigenous People of Biafra has rejected the withdrawal of the quit notice issued to Igbo in the Northern part of the country by the Arewa youths.

The Arewa youths, under the aegis of Coalition of Northern Groups, had ordered all Igbo residing in the North to vacate the region before October 1, 2017.

But, at a press conference attended by the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, in Abuja on Thursday, the Arewa youths said they have withdrawn the quit notice.

The Northern youths, who announced the decision through their spokesman, Abdulaziz Suleiman, in the same breath said they would continue to pursue “petitions to the United Nations and the Nigerian federal authorities calling for appropriate sanction of Nnamdi Kanu, other IPOB leaders and their sponsors in addition to labelling them a terror outfit”.

However, reacting to the development, IPOB described the withdrawal of the quit notice as ‘inconsequential’.

Speaking through its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB asked the Arewa youths to ‘stick to the quit notice’, if they have any ‘honour’.

The group equally urged all Igbos and other Southerners resident in the core North to discountenance the withdrawal of the notice and return home.

IPOB noted that history had shown that the withdrawal of the notice does not mean that Igbo lives and property are no longer endangered in the North.

“It is inconsequential to IPOB whether the ‘quit notice’ was rescinded or not because it will in no way impact the pace and direction of our effort to restore Biafra.

“Threats don’t have any effect on us, so our advice to the Arewa North is to please stick to the October 1 deadline or else they have no honour.

“We urge all southerners in the core North to return home before October 1 as history will most definitely repeat itself.

“Southerners were massacred in the pogroms of 1966 and 1967 after similar assurances were issued then that people should remain in the North,” the IPOB spokesman said.

The pro-Biafra group alleged that the ‘quit notice’, which it described as an incitement to genocide, was endorsed by Northern political leaders.

“The presence of a serving governor and senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during the supposed press briefing confirms what we have always known that the incitement to genocide, which is what the ‘quit notice’ is all about, has the blessing of the Arewa political class,” Powerful said.

Just as the Arewa youths have insisted on the re-arrest of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB also urged the Federal Government to arrest leaders of the Northern group.

“If President Muhammadu Buhari is at all serious about clamping down on hate speech, he should arrest those behind the ‘quit notice’ along with their sponsors,” IPOB said.

“Trying to drag the name of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, into their unintelligent blood fest will be resisted.

“If the idea is to cow our leader with calls for his arrest, then those behind the genocidal edict of ‘Igbos must leave the North’ are even dumber than we thought.

“Nigeria is crumbling today before our eyes due to the arrest of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu; those wishing for him to be arrested again are basically signing the death warrant of Nigeria,” the secessionist group added.

Vowing that IPOB would not relent in its quest to restore Biafra, Powerful stressed that the group was not afraid of what he described as the ‘fabled Fulani hegemonic juggernaut’.

VCs, ASUU reject 120 cut-off mark for varsity admission

•‘It’s FG’s ploy to destroy public varsities’

Olufemi Atoyebi and Folashade Adebayo

SOME Vice-Chancellors and the Academic Staff Union of Universities have rejected the decision of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board to peg admission cut-off mark at 120 for universities and 100 for polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education.

ASUU said the action, which it described as a “sad policy decision,” was in tandem “with the dream of the present government to destroy public universities in the country.”

Most of the vice-chancellors our correspondents interviewed on the issue maintained that they would not lower admission standards in their respective varsities.

The vice-chancellors stated that the decision would add no value to the nation’s university system.

For instance, in a statement issued by the Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, on the issue and released by his Media Assistant, Mr. Sunday Saanu, on Thursday,  the premier university stated that it would never admit any candidate that scored 120 in the UTME.

The statement added, “It should worry us as patriots that candidates who scored just 30 per cent in the UTME can be admitted into some of our universities. Yet, we complain of poor quality of our graduates. You can hardly build something on nothing. The consolation here is that since JAMB started conducting this qualifying exam in 1978, UI has never admitted any candidate who scored less than 200 marks out of the maximum 400 marks.

“This translates to a minimum of 50 per cent. This remains our position as an institution aspiring to be world-class. Reality is that only about four other universities in the country have such high standard. To that extent, apart from being the oldest, we are an elite university in the country at least judging by the quality of our intakes.’’

Olayinka, however, commended the decision of the Federal Government to re-introduce the post-UTME test and exonerated the incumbent JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, from the cancellation of the test two sessions ago.

“It is gratifying to note that the Honourable Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, who chaired the meeting, apologised publicly for canceling the post-UTME screening last year.

“In effect, universities are now allowed to conduct the test using modalities approved by the Senate of each institution.

“To be fair to the incumbent Registrar of JAMB, he was not the Registrar when the policy somersault of cancelling the post-UTME test was made last year. As strongly canvassed by us at every opportunity, for UI, the need to admit the best admission seekers is the primary motivation for the test and not money, even though we do not pretend that you can run any university so properly called without funds.”

Speaking to one of our correspondents on Thursday, the Vice-Chancellor, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ogun State, Prof. Oluyemisi Obilade, said that the onus would ultimately fall on parents and employers of labour to decide “between a first-class graduate of a university which takes 120 as its cut-off mark or one that takes 180 as its cut-off mark.’’

Obilade, who said that TASUED would never go below 180, insisted that many of the VCs at the Combined Policy Meeting during which the 120 benchmark decision was made, said they would not go below 180.

She said, “But some universities chose 120 at the meeting. What the JAMB has done is to transfer power back to the Senate of universities to decide their cut-off marks.  What I can tell you is that many public universities and even private universities will not go below 200. We were told that some universities were doing what they called ‘under the table admission’ and then come back to JAMB after four years for regularisation.

“TASUED will not go below 180, not under my watch. Even in the United States, there is what we call Ivy League universities, and there are those you can call ‘Next Level Universities.’ There are also those that are termed community colleges. At the meeting, the outcome is that universities have been given the freedom to decide. It is not general legislation and it is not binding on everybody.’’

Speaking with journalists in Ibadan, the Chairman of ASUU at the University of Ibadan, Dr. Deji Omole, said it was the dream of the present government to destroy education in the country.

He said, “Rather than sanctioning the identified universities that admitted over 17,000 students illegally, the JAMB registrar simply regularised illegality and lowered cut-off marks to favour the interests of the friends of government who own private universities and are hell bent on destroying public education.”

Omole said it was vital for JAMB to be scrapped in order to save the nation’s education and its future. He said the board had outlived its usefulness and that prospective students should apply directly to universities of their choice for admission.

He said, “Where are the students that the JAMB registrar said entered universities illegally? Which universities admitted them? If 30 per cent did not take JAMB and found their way into the university system, is that not corruption and a message that JAMB is not significant anymore? What sanction did those who did the illegal thing receive other than regularisation of illegality.

“We are watching because long before now we have said that JAMB has outlived its usefulness. Let the universities set their unique standards and those who are qualified can come in. Scoring 120 out of 400 marks is 30 per cent. Even in those days, 40 per cent was graded as pass. But now JAMB said with F9 which is scoring 30 per cent you can be admitted.

“They deliberately want to destroy education. Even for polytechnic, 100 marks is 25 per cent. It is sad. And that is where we are in Nigeria. They want to destroy public education at all costs. This is not setting standard for education in Nigeria. It is purely lowering standards and digging grave for the future. This is why ASUU is currently on the struggle to influence the government to do the needful for education in Nigeria.”

Also, the Dean of Students Affairs, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Prof. Kayode Alese, who spoke on behalf of FUTA management, said that the institution would soon unveil its cut-off mark.

“However, I can assure you that FUTA has never gone as low as 120. It has never happened and it will never happen,” he said.

Alese added, “Having spoken for the university, my personal opinion is that the 120 cut-off mark will not add value to our education system.  The Federal Government has just increased the pass mark from 40 to 45 in universities. What that means is that you must score at least 45 for you to pass any course. We have enough candidates and yes you may try to increase access but tertiary education should be for those who have the capability.’’

Also, the Vice-Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Tope Ogunmodede, said the institution would not admit any candidate with 120 UTME score.

He said, “Traditionally, OAU has never admitted students who scored below 200 in the UTME. For us, we are sticking to 200. The minimum benchmark is 120 but you can go higher than that. I expect that an institution should be able to determine the quality of its graduates because there are internal exams. What has been done is to provide a leeway for universities to decide their cut-off marks.”

Meanwhile, the National Association of Nigerian Students has described the reduction of the cut-off marks for admission into tertiary institutions as “a gross misplacement of priority and an exercise in futility.”

The organisation said that the reduction by JAMB, from 180 for universities and 165 polytechnics, to 120 and 100 respectively for the 2017 UTME, would translate to a disastrous outcome in the future.

The President of NANS, Chinonso Obasi, in a statement on Thursday, threatened that the decision would be resisted if JAMB refused to adhere to the status quo.

He said, “As critical stakeholders in the educational sector, NANS will vehemently resist the review and call on government to maintain the status quo and endeavour to conduct a comparative study and analysis of policies from other climes that support functional learning and production of young people that can compete with their peers globally.

“Even with the current status, the general phenomenon is that Nigerian graduates are not employable. The lowering of standards will translate to a disastrous outcome in the future by churning out young people who cannot fit into the demands and expectations of the 21st century.’’

According to him, since the 21st century is being driven by innovation and competitiveness, lowering the entry level into tertiary institutions would only further contribute to reducing the productivity and peak performance of young people seeking admission into the country’s higher institutions of learning.

However, the Vice-Chancellor of the Christopher University, Ogun State, Prof. Friday Ndubuisi, said the new admission benchmark would have no negative implication on the quality of education.

He said, “This is not an imposition.  The cut-off mark is a minimum benchmark for admission. This idea of taking the UTME every year without getting admission is worrying. About 1.6 million candidates sat for the examination this year and about 500,000 will be admitted mostly because of the cut-off mark. Most universities will not go below 200, but with five credits obtained in two sittings, a person should be qualified for admission.  This is, however, not an imposition.  Universities still get to decide on whom to admit through the post-UTME.’’

BREAKING: PDP will never wish you ill, Markafi tells Buhari

Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja

The Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ahmed Makarfi, on Friday, told President Muhammadu Buhari that the opposition party would never wish the President ill.

While congratulating Buhari on his recovery, the PDP chief prayed God to give him greater strength to shoulder the responsibilities of his office for the betterment of our country.

Makarfi said this at a meeting Buhari held with the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress and PDP at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said, “It is on record, Mr. President, that while you were away, being the major opposition party in the country did not stop us from praying for your quick recovery and return to Nigeria. This is because we honestly believe that the President of our country, whatever party flag he or she flies, is our president; and his or her health is substantially linked with the nation’s health in so many ways.

“So, a prayer for your health, Mr President, we believe is a prayer for the good health of our country. This was why at several fora, we did, and enjoined others, irrespective of party affiliation, to pray for your quick recovery. It is a thing of joy, that Allah has answered our prayers

“In any case, this PDP firmly believes that opposition is no madness; it will therefore never wish ill of anybody, let alone the person saddled with the responsibility of leading our country.

“Mr President, you will agree with me that the PDP has more than a fair knowledge and experience of the weight of that responsibility.”

Nwabueze, Oyebode, Okoko, others seek new constitution

Some eminent Nigerians rose from a meeting in Lagos yesterday, demanding a new constitution as a precursor of restructuring.

To the Leaders of Thought, restructuring cannot be implemented by an amendment of the 1999 Constitution. A new constitution approved by the people at a referendum is necessary, they said.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, the group’s chairman, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, noted that while the clamour for restructuring was sweeping across the country, “the National Assembly is still regaling us with talks about constitution amendment, buttressing its position with the erroneous assertion that the 1999 Constitution can only be amended or altered”.

Nwabueze said: “The view that the 1999 Constitution cannot be completely abolished and replaced by a new Constitution is erroneous because the National Assembly fails to take into account the fact that the 1999 Constitution is only a schedule to Decree 24 of 1999”.

He argued that the Decree is an existing law under section 315 of the 1999 Constitution and, like all existing laws, can be repealed by the National Assembly.

“We think the way for Nigeria is for the people, in exercise of the power inherent in them as a sovereign people, to make, through a referendum, a new Constitution, consisting a new political order. The process must be led by a President, as the elected leader of the people imbued by an ardour for change.”

The chairman said the group believed “that negotiated restructuring, implemented under a new constitution, is the best assurance for the realisation of our desire for one Nigeria”. “We members of Southern Leaders of Thought are committed patriots, imbued with an abiding faith in one Nigeria, and the belief that the majority of Nigerians share the same faith.”

Nwabueze urged the Federal Government to give the people an opportunity to negotiate changes in governmental structures needed to accomplish their desires, believing that appropriate structures must be put in place for good governance.

He told reporters that the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, had mandated him to tell the Federal Government that he (Kanu) would caution his followers to slow down or call off the struggle for actualisation of Biafra if the government accepts the Leaders of Thought’s position on restructuring. According to Nwabueze, Kanu also promised to back down on the threat to disrupt the 2019 elections.

Nwabueze said in a country with a vast expanse of territory, with diversity of ethnic nationalities, with divergent interests and outlook, a federal system is the most appropriate for us. We, therefore, demand the kind of federalism that existed under the 1960 and 1963 Constitutions, he stated.

According to him, the essential purpose of restructuring is to enable the component ethnic nationalities grouped together by affinity of culture or language or territorial congruity to govern themselves in matters of internal concerns.

He identified the factors that negate true federalism in Nigeria as over concentration of political power and resources at the centre. A way out, according to him is to revisit the exclusive and concurrent legislative lists with a view to devolving power to the States.

At the meeting were Prof Kimse Okoko, Chief Solomon Asemota (SAN), Prof Sola Ehindero and Prof Akin Oyebode.

No Amount Of Hatred Will Erase Buhari’s Achievements – Lai Mohammed

Information and Culture minister Lai Mohammed has said no amount of hatred will obliterate the achievements recorded by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The minister made the observation at the opening of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC)’ Annual Lecture and 25th Anniversary of creation of the Commission.
Mohammed said that contrary to the impression being created by purveyors of hate speech and fake news, the Buhari Administration had, in a short time, recorded solid achievements under a most difficult situation.
He said despite operating with just 45 per cent of the funds available to the immediate past administration due largely to the fall in prices of oil, the Buhari government had achieved tremendously.
The minister said that it was as a result of the efficient leadership of Buhari that Nigeria had not witnessed economic and social crises like other oil dependent nations.
“A country that has consistently produced more oil than Nigeria, despite having about one sixth of the Nigerian population, is today embroiled in the worst economic crisis in its history.
“There is shortage of food, medicine and everything, and there is hyper-inflation.
“With Nigeria being affected by the same downturn in oil prices, coupled with years of monumental mismanagement of the country’s economy and the mindless and maddening looting of its treasury by rapacious public officials, why is Nigeria not in similar crisis as the country in question?
“My answer is simple: Because Nigeria has a President like Muhammadu Buhari!;’’ he said.
Specifically, the minister said that the Buhari government had brought transparency to governance, laying a solid foundation for the country’s economic recovery and growth through the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and other economic policies.
“Does anyone remember the scandalous fuel subsidies that failed to deliver fuel to filling stations? What about the fertiliser subsidies that never guaranteed the availability of fertiliser to farmers? Today, fuel queues are gone with the phantom fuel subsidies.
“Also, thanks to the resuscitation of 11 of the country’s moribund fertiliser blending plants, fertiliser is now available to farmers nationwide.
“In fact, 6 million bags of fertilisers have been delivered at 30 per cent below the market price, 50,000 jobs created and N50 billion saved with the stopping of fertiliser subsidy.
Mohammed said that despite paucity of funds, the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programmes were being implemented, creating jobs for youths and providing nutritious food for school children.
He said the Micro-credit scheme of the programmes was providing over a million Nigerians with small loans at very low rates through the Bank of Industry.
The minister said that despite the cowardly bombing of soft targets, Boko Haram insurgency was not in resurgence.
He said that the Nigerian troops were up to the task of ensuring that there was no resurgence of Boko Haram.
The minister said that the government is also delivering on critical infrastructure like roads and railways.
“Contractors are back to work on roads across the six geo-political zones, helping to recover lost jobs and put some money back in circulation, as part of government’s strategy to come out of this recession,’’ he said.
He solicited the support of all Nigerians to enable the country to assume its rightful place in the comity of nations and make life more bearable for every citizen.

This One Weak Me! Fayose Comes For Buhari Again!

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has begged President Muhammadu Buhari to resign and go home for a good rest. The Governor said he still stands by all he said about President Buhari on his ill health and has no apologies.
Speaking on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Governors Forum advised the president to stop deceiving Nigerians as the truth cannot be hidden forever.
He said, “If not for our efforts, Buhari wouldn’t have returned now. Buhari is sick and tired and even his physical appearance betrayed this and he needs to go home and rest.

“Today, they have cancelled the Federal Executive Council meeting. You cannot hide the truth forever, it will reveal itself someday. You cannot continue to deceive Nigerians.

“Every word that has come out of my mouth, I have no apology for them. President Buhari was indeed in a coma and one of those who visited him said his recovery is a miracle. That shows that he was indeed very sick. Let Buhari go back to Daura and rest, don’t send him to an early grave.”

Fayose, however, denied reports on social media that he vowed to commit suicide if the president came back alive from his medical vacation to the United Kingdom.

He attributed the rumour to the work of miscreants spreading misleading reports about him in the social media.

“How can I commit suicide because of an old man? Such are from miscreants on the social media. Let me tell you expressly, why would I commit suicide? I cannot commit suicide because of my mother. Even if they are burying my mother now, I will cleverly stay away from the grave so that I won’t fall into it. I can’t commit suicide because of Buhari. I never said that and will never make such statement.”
Fayose said pressure from him and civil society groups, including ‘Resume or Resign Movement’, was responsible for the forced return of the president to Nigeria.
“The pressure from me and many other Nigerians made the president return home. They have been treating this matter under the table forgetting that the life of a president is an open book that can be read by everybody and anybody.

“Not until civil societies and people like us started making noise. You can’t be our president without us knowing what is happening to you.

“For me, the president went to a coma on July 6. Today, they can come back and organise rallies and all that attested to the fact that the President recovered by a miracle which we are glad about.

“We are happy that he is back. But when you look at the President physically, you will see that he is emaciated, tired and weak. You don’t have to be president at all cost when you are tired, you go home.

“I stand by all I have said about the President. We are glad he is back but don’t over-flog him. I am not a sycophant and I stand to speak for Nigeria. Somebody must be able to speak on behalf of the poor masses. This was how they deceived us during the time of Yar’Adua.

“I am not a hypocrite and I will never be one. This country deserves a very healthy person. Office of the president is not for a sick man. The president is tired and should be allowed to resign and go and rest. ”
The governor also took a swipe at those saying Buhari was old enough to be his father.
“Buhari is not old enough to be my father. My mother is older than Buhari, not to even talk about my father, he can only be my uncle. I am close to 60.”

Asked if he would honour the invitation if invited to see the president, the governor said that could be misinterpreted, adding that he would prefer to watch from a distance.

“I cannot go and greet the president if invited and the reason is that such action would be misinterpreted to be something else. So, it is good for me to wish him well from a distance and be able to tell Nigerians the truth.”

“I don’t want to talk about 2019′, but I want to tell you that Nigeria needs a president that is agile and strong. The job is too much for an individual that does not have what it takes.

“We wish him well and we want him to recover but the President should throw in the towel, resign and go home.

“They said he would come back and resume in his office, he resumed in his office, they said rats have taken over his office. Now, they said he is working from home, tomorrow, they would say he is coming from the bedroom. All these stories are ending up in a make-belief.”

England’s record goalscorer Wayne Rooney announced on Wednesday he is retiring from international football with immediate effect, despite England manager Gareth Southgate telling him he had earned a recall.

The 31-year-old — scorer of 53 goals in 119 appearances for his country — told Southgate of his decision during a phone conversation.

In his statement explaining his decision to retire from international football, Rooney said: “One of my very few regrets is not to have been part of a successful England tournament side.

“We Didn’t Ban Olamide’s “Wo” Song”- NBC Denies Media Rumors

"We Didn't Ban Olamide's "Wo" Song"- NBC Denies Rumors

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has refuted widespread media reports that it has banned five Nigerian songs having tagged them as “Not to be Broadcasted.”

Recall that on Tuesday, the Commission released a list, saying it has banned the five songs from being aired across the Nigerian airwaves.

The songs, reportedly banned by NBC are Olamide‘s “Wo” and “Wavy Level“; Davido‘s “Fall” and “If (Remix)“; and 9ice’s “Living Things.”

In a sit down chat with SIGNAL on Tuesday, Mrs. Maimuna Jimada, the NBC’s Head of Public Affairs said she was not aware of any such list emanating from the NBC.

“First of all, the NBC does not ban songs. We only insist that broadcasters exercise a sense of responsibility in the kind of content they allow to go on air. So even if the NBC has placed such a restriction on any of these songs, it does not constitute a ban.
They can still be played at nightclubs, streamed on the Internet, played at home and on people’s mobile devices. But I am not aware of the NBC releasing any list banning or putting a restriction on any of those five songs. It is also possible that one of our regional offices advised stations under their jurisdiction about these songs and it is now being misinterpreted as a ban.

Mrs. Jimada said;

“If you look at the report, you would know there was something fishy about it because the NBC is the National Broadcasting Commission and not a “Corporation” as being reported by the media outlets disseminating the news.”

Beg Davido Or Phyno To Feature You & Watch Your Music Appreciated – Fan Tells Efe

Do Your Best To Get Featured By Davido Or Phyno And Watch Your Music Appreciated – Fan Tells Efe

Ibinabo Emmanuel Bagshaw

Read what he said below:

I earlier wrote an article clapping back at persons who take it as a part-time job to criticize the BBNaija Winner 2017, Efe.

On this piece, I’ll be stating some things Efe is failing to do; and I hope he takes note.

I am a real fan of Efe, and to be frank I cherish his music; it’s not easy to compose lyrics and implement it in a studio perfectly. To be precise, before or after he emerged winner of BBNaija, some prominent Nigeria artistes have promised to help carry him through the road of being famous to an extent — if I should mention names, one person is YBNL Boss, Olamide — but ever since we’ve not heard any form of advances between them.
Let’s use Mr Eazi as an example, there was a time he featured artistes who have their heads raised high in the industry, and that catapulted him far above his initial level. Yes! that was his album, but he was wise. Now, back to Efe; give making new singles a pause for now, go out there fight to feature artistes like Davido, Falz, Olamide, Phyno, Reminisce, Ola Dips, Ice Prince, Sarkodie and lots more. Make those singles you’ve released already stand out, many of your fans have been waiting for a remix of your tracks with famous artistes — that’s what we want, do it and watch it shoot you to an unexpected height.

I saw an headline that depicts “I won’t be popular in next 3months or so” (if I should rephrase). Efe, if you really said that, drop it at once; work smartly in the Music Industry and you’ll gain real popularity.

I’ll always be your fan Efe; I only hope you utilize the hints stressed in this article.

God Bless You.

ASUU: FG Set To Release N23BN To University Lecturers- Education Minister

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, has said that arrangement has been made by the federal government for the release of N23 billion to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Speaking before the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, led by Senator Jibrin Barau, the Minister disclosed that the executive arm of government had commenced plans to ensure that it honoured the agreement with ASUU.

The Minister disclosed that the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, had already approved a total N53bn for the union so far, adding that the balance of N23bn would be released on Monday when the striking lecturers would receive the cheque.

He said: “ASUU asked for N23billion to be paid, but we said the condition for getting the N23billion was for them to account for the N30billion they had taken and they were not able to account for it.

“The Minister of Finance undertook to do the audit from the ministry and we agreed that the result will be known six months. During those six months, government undertook to be paying ASUU N1.5billion each month during the time they were waiting for this.

‘’However, their grouse was that the forensic audit promised by the Minister of Finance had not been done and the money promised not paid.

“So, at our meeting two days ago, the agreement was to pay them all and do forensic audit on the entire N53billion.

“That was what I tried to do yesterday (Wednesday). I wrote to the Minister of Finance and she has already approved and this money will be paid. Probably, by Monday, they will be able to receive the cheque.

“We didn’t agree with ASUU on their request that TSA should be taken out. I told them that it is not possible because it is a new policy and government is not going to change it for anyone.

“Concerning their salary short fall, we said the reason springs from universities employing people without proper authority.

“For instance, a university can just decide to go and recruit 50 people without notifying IPPIS. So, what they are going to get is the money they got last month, which will not be sufficient for them. We have told them that institutions should, henceforth, stop doing that and they accepted.

“There is the issue of registration of their pension commission. I think they have one or two issues to iron out with PENCOM and I believe they will also be able to solve the problem within a week.

“The issue of renegotiation is already ongoing, which will not affect what we have said. I have already written a letter formalizing the meeting and all the agreements we had with ASUU and gave them the letter yesterday.

“From the way they received it, I think it is possible that the strike will be called off within a week maximum.”

Chairman of the Committee, Senator Jibrin Barau, commended the Minister for his efforts towards ensuring that the situation was resolved and the strike called off.

Premier League!! Stoke City Vs Arsenal On Saturday, 5:30PM (Drop Your Predictions!!)

Arsenal take on Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium in Saturday’s late kickoff in the Premier League aiming to maintain their perfect start to the new campaign.

After edging past Leicester City in last weekend’s opener, the Gunners are now hoping to win their first two games of a top-flight season for the first time in seven years.

After three-successive seasons of top-half finishes, Stoke were backed by many last summer to potentially push on under experienced boss Mark Hughes and challenge for a place in a European qualification spot.

A dreadful start to the season put paid to those aspirations, though, as they took just three points from their first seven outings and failed to truly find any real momentum over the next seven months of the season.

They may have done it the hard way, requiring two goals in the final 10 minutes at the Emirates Stadium, but all that matters is that Arsenal kicked off their season with all three points against Leicester last weekend.

It was one of the most dramatic opening-game fixtures in the competition’s history, seeing the Gunners twice fall behind after taking a lead early on and eventually getting over the line with the aid of supersubs Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud.

Stoke bolstered their attacking ranks with the loan signing of Jese Rodriguez from Paris Saint-Germain in midweek, meaning that they now have more Champions League winners in their squad than any other side in the division.

Star attacker Alexis Sanchez continues to miss out for the visitors due to a niggling injury issue, meanwhile, though he is back in training and will be in contention for the trip to face Liverpool on August 27.

Elsewhere, Per Mertesacker, Shkodran Mustafi and Francis Coquelin are all expected to be in the squad after missing out last week, while Laurent Koscielny has one final match to serve on the suspension that has carried over from last season.

Stoke City possible starting lineup:
Butland; Zouma, Shawcross, Cameron; Johnson, Allen, Fletcher, Pieters; Shaqiri, Jese, Choupo-Moting

Arsenal possible starting lineup:
Cech; Mustafi, Mertesacker, Kolasinac; Bellerin, Xhaka, Ramsey, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Welbeck, Ozil; Lacazette
