Governor Bindow Mohammed Jibrilla
of Adamawa state has announced that the state will, today and Sunday,
February 12, offer special prayers in mosques and churches for the
speedy recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Jibrilla made this known at the end of the state weekly executive council on Thursday, February 9, Vanguard reports.
According to him, any leader required prayers no matter his or her health status and President Buhari should not be excluded.
He said: “President
Muhammadu Buhari needs the prayers of all Nigerians to enable him pilot
the affairs of the country effectively. This, we have been doing even
before he travelled for his vacation and we will not relent.
“As the Governor of Adamawa
state, I deserve special prayers from my people to enable me accomplish
the dreams of governing the state well.”
He reiterated the desire of the state government towards providing dividends of democracy to the people.
Buhari initially embarked on a 10-day
vacation, but wrote to the Senate to extend it for medical reasons. He
did not specify the date he would return to the country thus fuelling
speculation that he could be in a critical condition.
But photos of the president with a former Interim National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Chief Bisi Akande and the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in London on Thursday, February 9, seems to have silenced speculators.
