Manchester City have moved ahead of Manchester United to complete a stunning deal for AS Monaco defender, Benjamin Mendy, according to reports.
Reports in French outlet Le10 Sport claim that Manchester City have beaten their fierce rivals, United to the signature of Mendy.
The explosive left-back was a key figure for Monaco last season as they won the French Ligue 1 and reached the latter stages of Champions League with impressive displays to shock most clubs in Europe.
It is understood that City boss Pep Guardiola have succeeded in signing Mendy after agreeing €45 million with the Frenchman and could arrive Manchester before the end of the week.
Premier League duo of Chelsea and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old this summer, with reports that they have contacted the French giants on the possibility of signing the left-back.
However, reports in France have it that Benjamin Mendy decided to join Pep Guardiola after success talks and will snub offers to complete his move.
Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in Southampton left back, Ryan Betrand with reports that Guardiola wants to bring the defender to provide competition at the left-back position next season.
