Real Madrid club president Florentino Perez has revealed that they could have signed Lionel Messi, had he not signed for their fierce rivals, Barcelona.
The Argentine hero has been an impressive figure at the Camp Nou since he signed at the tender age of 14 from Newell Old Boys, going on to become one of the best footballers the world has ever had.
Despite ruling the footballing world, he has always been at loggerheads with Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo, battling for numerous individuals due to their sheer brilliance that has seen them beat other opponents easily.
Amid rumours over the future of Ronaldo, Perez has revealed his interest in his arch rival, Lionel Messi, admitting they (Real Madrid) would have signed him if he was not at Barcelona.
When asked about Messi, he told Onda Cero: “Of course we would have loved to have had Messi at Madrid,
“But he was in the Barca youth team so it could never have happened!”
Having had his own share of troubles in the past, Lionel Messi is preparing to take his longterm partner, Antonella Roccuzzo to the altar on the 30th of June, 2017. The couple are currently holidaying in the Spanish islands ahead of their big day.
